Was für unglaublich schöner Abend! Nachdem Magic am Nachmittag eine Gazelle erlegte, hat es erst einmal heftig geregnet. Um so überraschender war dann der Tagesausklang.

What an incredible evening! After Magic had hunted down a gazelle, heavy rain set in. So, we were so surprised to become rewarded with such a beautiful conclusion of this production day.
Magic ist eine völlig andere Gepardin als Maleika. Sie ist völlig auf Sicherheit bedacht und meidet das Risiko so gut es geht. Lieber jagt sie kleine Beutetiere, was bei insgesamt 7 Gepardenbabys mit riesigem Hunger, natürlich ein bisschen wenig ist.

Magic is a totally different cheetah as Maleika was.She prefers always to avoid any risk. Rather she hunts small prey. But to feed by this 7 hungry cubs is ambitious…
Das war ein großartiger Tag mit den 5 Gepardenmännern. Erst haben sie sich mit einer Löwin angelegt. Dann gab es einen super Jagdversuch auf eine Thomson Gazelle. Und schließlich die fulminante Jagd und der Kampf mit einem Gnubullen. Der Kinofilm kommt voran!

This was a superb day with the 5 cheetahs. In the morning they challenged a lioness. Then they performed a great hunting attempt on a thomson-gazelle. And finally they made an incredible hunt and fought down a big wildebeest. The cinema movie forges ahead!
Der erste Produktionstag in der Masai Mara war trotz Regen ziemlich gut. Wir haben eine Gepardin mit 7 Babys entdeckt (dazu später mehr) und sind den 5 Gepardenmännern gefolgt. Mehr will ich noch nicht verraten:-)
The first production day in the Masai Mara was quite good. We spotted a cheetah with 7 babies (later more about this) and followed 5 male cheetahs. That’s it for now:-)
Eine neue Zeichnung wurde soeben fertig. Mich fasziniert die filigrane Schlichtheit einer Graphitzeichnung und die Akzentuierung durch das Rötel. So wird es magisch und eröffnet eine neue Ebene:

So, das Atelier wird jetzt mal gegen ein Freilandfilmstudio eingerichtet. Mit anderen Worten mache ich mich mal wieder auf, Geschichten zu sammeln in der Welt der Geparden:

Wir verabschieden unsere Gäste nach einem unglaublich tollen und vielfältigen Reise und fliegen zurück in die Zentralkalahari. Dort ist es nach wie vor viel zu trocken. Ich will nochmals ein Löwenrudel filmen, das ich schon seit vielen Jahren dokumentiere. Hoffentlich finden wir es.

We see off our guests after an incredible multifarious trip and fly back into the Central Kalahari. There it is still far too dry. I intend to film once more a long since documented pride of lions. Cross the fingers that we will find them.
