Zurück in die Zentralkalahari /Back to Central Kalahari

Wir verabschieden unsere Gäste nach einem unglaublich tollen und vielfältigen Reise und fliegen zurück in die Zentralkalahari. Dort ist es nach wie vor viel zu trocken. Ich will nochmals ein Löwenrudel filmen, das ich schon seit vielen Jahren dokumentiere. Hoffentlich finden wir es.

We see off our guests after an incredible multifarious trip and fly back into the Central Kalahari. There it is still far too dry. I intend to film once more a long since documented pride of lions. Cross the fingers that we will find them.

Gute Gene / Good Genes

Die Löwen am Kwandofluss entwickeln sich bestens. Immer mehr Löwen aus Namibia kommen in das Gebiet auf der Botswanischen Seite, weil sie merken, dass sie dort nicht bejagt werden.

Diese Löwenkinder sind topfit. Ich filme zahlreiche tolle Spielszenen.

The population of the lions at the Kwando river increases. More and more lions from Namibia cross the border into Botswana, as they know exactly that they are not hunted on these side of the river.

This lions are in perfect condition. I film a lot of brilliant playing scenes.

Warten auf Mami / Waiting for Mum

Die Löwenmutter hat alle Mühe 3 hungrige Löwenkinder mit Nahrung zu versorgen. Die Löwinnen sind für einen Tag komplett verschwunden. Eigentlich sollten die Löwenkinder jetzt vorsichtig sein und sich besser verstecken. Nicht diese Löwenkinder. Sie sind neugierig und unvorsichtig.

The lioness struggles to feed 3 hungry lion kids. For one day the lionesses disappear at all. Actually the kids should be cautious during the absence of the adults. Better would be to hide. But not these little guys. They are inquisitive and undeterred.

Aus, das tut weh / Och, that is Painful

Im Eifer des Gefechts vergessen die Löwenkinder, dass ihre Zähne schon ganz schon große sind. Jeder Versuch, Milch von der Zitze zu trinken, endet spätestens nach dem ersten Biss in die Zitze. Am Ende bleibt der Löwenmutter nichts anderes übrig, als den Kleinen mal mit der Tatze eine runterzuhauen: „Schluss jetzt, ihr Rabauken!“

In all the turmoil the lion kids forget that their teeth are already fairly grown. Each attempt to soak some milk fails, as they just bite the nipples which ends up in a pain for mum. So, she decides to give them a tug by the paws: „Finished, hunt yourselves, rascals!“

Freche Löwen / Naughty Lions

Nach langem Suchen spüren wir schließlich die Löwen aus. Die haben 3 Kinder und die halten Ihre Mutter und Tanten ganz schön auf Trab. Ich lieb es, wenn Löwen Kleine haben, denn dann schlafen sie nicht bis zu 20 Stunden am Tag, sondern sie bieten meiner Kamera etwas. So hatten wir alle Spaß!

Hier einige Highlights der zurückliegenden Tour „Blühende Kalahari“. Für die nächste Tour gibt es noch Zimmer.

After a formidable tracking we manage to spot the lions. They have 3 cubs and they are quite proactive what keeps their mother and aunts going.I love it, when lions have small ones. Then they do not sleep the usual 20 hours a day. Instead they perform something for my camera. At least we have fun!

Durstige Löwen /Thirsty Lions

Nach einem guten Gaumenschmaus – in diesem Fall ein Gnu – kann man schon einen ordentlichen Verdauungsdrink vertragen. Doch es scheint so zu sein, dass die insgesamt 9 Löwen das letzte Wasserloch weit und breit aussaufen wollen. Tolle Filmszenen und tolles Erlebnis für unsere Gäste der Reise.

Die nächste „Blühende Kalahari“ ist im Februar März 2020.Hier gibt es die Unterlagen dazu.

After a feast – in this case a gnu – its nice to enjoy a digestif. But ist seems that the altogether 9 lions intend to finish the whole pond in the area. Whatever, great footage for the camera and a great experience for our guests.

Show der Löwen / Show of the Lions

Bevor wir schließlich mit einem Buschflieger die Zentralkalahari verlassen und in den nördlichen Teil des Deltas fliegen, präsentieren uns die Löwen am Morgen eine unglaubliche Show. 5 Löwenmänner sind gekommen und die 3 Löwenkinder geben sich alle Mühe, die alten Herren auf Trab zu halten. Nun einer paart sich ganz nebenbei am Pfannenrand… Auch unsere Gäste sind begeistert: „Blühende Kalahari 2020“

Before we fly with our bush-plane from the Central Kalahari to the northern part of the Delta the lions display an incredible show in the morning.5 male lions entered the scene over night. The 3 kids give there best to drive the old men crazy. By the way one of the males celebrates a wedding with one of the girls. „Blühende Kalahari 2020“

Der Biss…. / Biting the Balls

Aua – das hat ganz schön weh getan. Da hat doch glatt der Sohnemann dem Papa kräftig in seinen Sack gebissen. Eine tolle Filmszene für den nächsten Kinofilm. Papa hat sich nämlich ganz schön aufgeregt und dem Sohnemann mal gezeigt, wo es lang geht. Hier die nächste Reise „Blühende Kalahari 2020“

Oh – that hurt very much. No wonder, the son dared to bite the his father in the balls. Great footage for the next cinema movie, as papa was furious and made a big commotion to give the son some kind of revenge. At least the old man was active:-) Want to be with us on the next „Blühende Kalahari 2020“?

Begegnung mit Löwen / Bump into Lions

Gleich am ersten Tag unserer Filmproduktion entdecken wir alte Bekannte – Löwenmänner eines mittlerweile stark dezimierten Rudels. Einer von ihnen bricht auf, um das Revier zu markieren. Löwenmänner in der Zentralkalahari legen am Tag bis zu 35 km zurück. (unser Reisetipp mit Matto Barfuss).

Right at the first day of our production we bump into good friends – male lions from an fairly depleted pride. One of these guys embarks on a prowl to mark their territory. male lions in the Central Kalahari go over distances of up to 35 km per day. (our recommendation of a safari with Matto Barfuss )
